The Post to Close the Gap

It's been way too long since I posted anything. So my plan is to post this random unexciting post about not posting in a long time, so that when I post again it will seem like it hasn't been that long. Or I'm just trying to confuse you so maybe you will have forgotten that I haven't posted in a long time.

So busy

He always wants to stand, so I have to put toys on the couch if I want him to play with any of them.

September 2009

As you can see he's wearing the appropriate outfit as Liana just can't keep her hands off ;)

That his new favorite trick and spends most of the day sticking his tongue out.

Aiden all ready for bed

Aiden's Almost 6 months!

Today was just another non-noteworthy day. But several of these days in a row accumulate to something noteworthy, if nothing else than at least I get to share about how much Aiden has grown. He is doing well sitting up on his own, though still has a tendency to fall over often so can't really be left unsupervised. He would do better if he wasn't always trying to grab what is out of his reach. He has discovered a way of army-like crawling around combined with rolling over to get around. Which just makes it all the more difficult to set him down anywhere, which is fine with him as he prefers being carried more than anything and would rather have me devote every second to him rather than getting anything else done.

He still sleeps excellent at night, though it takes a little more convincing to get him to take naps, there's just so many other things he would rather do, such as pull all my hair out. As for church, he is at a precarious stage. He's too old to really sit in church cause he talks a lot and just wants to play but I'm nervous about putting him in the nursery as he still needs someone to watch him, and normally in the nursery there are 6 other babies and only 2 helpers, so I end up missing church. Sadly, I think I just have to accept sitting in the nursery with him for a couple more weeks.

I think this next month, perhaps next week (depending on how much he weighs) we will try feeding him cereal for the first time and will be sure to post pictures of that.

Cousin's Lovin

This is probably about a month ago. Aiden (left) and Peyton (right) playing together...I wonder if this is foreshadowing what they will be like in the future. Prior to the video they would just look at each other and grab each other's ears and face, and whenever a hand strayed near a month...well I'm sure you can guess. Perhaps we are "mean" parents as we watch and laugh as our babies pick on each other...and now you can too :)

5 Months

Aiden is now 5 months. He is sort of sitting up on his own, but after a few seconds tends to topple over, face first. At his Dr. appoinment he measured about 26" and weighed about 13.2 lbs. That puts him less than 5th percentile for his weight. The doctor was slightly concerned about his wieght gain so we started supplementing iron (though I think that was because he thought he looked slightly anemic). If you have seen iron in a bottle you would know it is brown, grainy looking crud that I would surely not care to eat. Aiden doesn't really seem to mind it though.

So the other night we had a wake-up call as parents. Grant it, we try to avoid putting Aiden in any sort of dangerous situation, but there are always little risks you take thinking it won't happen to you. One such risk was putting Aiden in his swing and not buckling him in. We have buckled him in, but the other night we just didn't. And I know you can see where this is going, and yes as we were eating dinner Aiden was crying a bit, which we assumed was just cause he was unhappy that he wasn't being held, as he does a lot. Nate went over to check on him and sure enough he was on the floor. Luckily he was on the small patch of carpet we have in our house and didn't seem to terribly distraut. Lesson learned.

Otherwise he's doing ok with sleeping in his own room at night- though he likes to put up a fight eventually he falls asleep around 9 and will sleep till 7 normally.

And just because I'm listening to it right now and think it's amazing- I highly recomment Owl City particularly Fireflies. They sound a lot like The Postal Service. Good stuff.
